As rumours go, the Curtiss P40 Warhawk was not an exceptional aircraft. Although it was the main fighter of the americans in the first 2 years in the WW2 pacific warfield. Just because it existed in large quantities.

like the p-40, i just recently fell in love with the war saving Curtiss p-40b tomahawk, 2 nose mounted 50s and 4 3s cals.
